CHALLENGE:
Concept, develop, and design an original board game including packaging and three-dimensional elements.
DESCRIPTION:
My solution is a flexible, resource-based game with unfixed board tiles. The game is played with four of the six board tiles at a time that can be arranged in any order, making up 24 possible board alignments. Players select from the four ceramic character figurines and strive to fill their resource cards with the required number of ceramic resource tokens arranged across the board tiles before reaching the river valley at the end. The game is randomized with a die and risk spaces that loom with a mixture of brutal punishments and lavish rewards. My illustrations within the game are inspired by prehistoric cave art and organic motifs and the tokens themselves were handmade from fired earthenware clay and paint. The color scheme is natural, based on earth pigments used in ancient art.
